St. Nicholas Church of Nickolo-Kroutiny Village (Egorievsk district, Moscow region, Russia)
First time the volost' (rural district) of Kroutinka was mentioned in the Will of Moscow Grand Duke Vasily in 1406. In the Kolomna revenue books for 1598 the settlement of Kroutinka on Lyubolova (now Lyublevka) river was also listed alongside with St. Nicholas churrch.
Few wooden churches had been built and demolished since till 1852 when merchant David Khloudov, built the new one of brick. Its wings were blessed by the names of St. Basil, St. John Khrisostom and the Russian saints Feodor Yaroslavich and Alexander Nevsky. In 1886 Feodor Jurievsky of Egorievsk completed the complex with bell tower and fencing walls including corner towers. A two-store parish school was placed nearby. A merchant from Klemynovo Vasily Lyubomilov was appointed a church warden. The parish consisted of 248 households.
In 1930-s the church was closed and a parish priest Father Nickolay (Golyshev) shot in Boutivo. The church premises have been given for the collective farm storage. Then for the number of years it was empty. The icons were stolen and the crosses sawed off.
In 1991 the parishioners started to restore the church. In 1999 Father Roman (Aksyonov) was appointed a parish priest. The church services are organized on Sundays and Saturdays as well as on church holidays. The place is situated 4 km from Egorievsk and can be reached on foot or by bus.
