Educational summer camp for young old-believers in Alyoshino near Egorievsk
"The Old Beliver", ¹ 26, October 2002
In
July 2002 an educational summer camp for the youth was organized at the village
of Alyoshino, Egorievsk district, Moscow region by Egorievsk Old-believing
congregation, Egorievsk Historical museum and the District Administration.
16
boys and girls were camping near St. George old-believing church for 2 weeks.
They managed to collect the valuable material about
history and culture of the
local Orthodox old-believing. They also took a trip to Moscow where they visited
The Roublev Museum of Ancient Russian Art and Culture and Rogozhskaya temple.
The camp was being visited by rev. Vasily (Kadochnikov), rev. Fedor (Vorozheikin),
a specialist for the local brass casting A. Antonyokov and historian V. Smirnov.
The
boys and girls had called themselves "Gouslaki - 2002" because of "Gouslitsy",
the name of the local historical province. They also were helping to clean and
landscape the church territory. The camp is gonna happen again perhaps with a
participation of the old-believing youth from another regions.
